Hi There, I have just acquired one of these keyboards but it lacks the power supply! We would very much like to know what would make a suitable replacement. Thanks in advance. Aled

Re: what power supply for SX-K200

Hi Aled, Welcome to the site. I have checked the file and the mains cable you require is often known as a "Figure of Eight" mains lead, as we have now lost Maplin, I would advise you find a good electrical supplier of Hi-Fi dealer. They are not that expensive and may well be on the shelf or obtainable quite quickly, If you are offered more than one length go for 3 meters if you can but 2m/6' would be fine.
Hope this is of use to you
Regards John. ( jd5live)

Re: what power supply for SX-K200

I am sorry John, Im rather confused!

Previously I had considered this on Ebay as an acceptable option:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/i/263914129545?chn=ps...
as there is a 'DC in 12V' single pin slot at the rear of the keyboard

but you say this would be more appropriate?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metre-Figure-Mains-Cable-Power/dp/B0094JE9R...

Are there any restrictions on voltage or other conditions for a power cable of this type?
I forgot to mention I am of course from the UK

Thanks again for your time.
I don't mean to demand spoonfeeding, just would rather not get this wrong as you can understand!

Re: what power supply for SX-K200

Hi Aled, I think we have some confusion over the model you have. You say your model is a SX-K200 but you now say your keyboard has a 12V socket, the SX-K range all are mains supplied However the SX-KN200 (Photos attached of both models) does have a mains adaptor There are a number of people on Ebay and Amazon claiming to supply adaptors for keyboards that have never had adaptors.
Just a point from your name, I assume you are in or come from Wales. I am based in the West Mids. I await your reply
Regards John.

PS. Most SX-K series models had a silver top case where SX-KN200 were Black

Re: what power supply for SX-K200

Hi John,
I have exactly the same sticker on the rear as in the first image (where it explicitly says SX-K200) but the keyboard is slightly different in appearance to the second image (similar colour and size but does not say KN200 and is full of grey sliders rather than colourful buttons).
The part of the keyboard where I assume the power input is supposed to go looks like the attached and since speaking to you I am not sure what each one is for. confused
Does that clear it up?
Well spotted, I am indeed from Wales. wink
Thanks,
Aled

Re: what power supply for SX-K200

Hi Aled, success I have spoken to a good friend of mine who reminded me that in the day the SX-K200 was not only sold for Home use but also for use on the move ie- in a caravan/tent or at sea on a boat. It was like many electrical items of the era Like TV sets etc. they had duel power supplies, this is what confused me You will really need to power the keyboard by mains. in which you will need a figure of eight power lead, If you have a 1980's portable radio/cassette player I would put money on the mains cable will be the same fitting although it might be a bit on the short side. I hope the manual is of use.
I hope we have now solved your question and you can have many happy hours of fun to come.
Best regards John.
